MEET OUR VET
I have graduated in 2014 from University of Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest.
I have always had a passion for reproduction and obstetrics and enjoy all aspects involved with this particular branch of medicine, from preparing the parents, to birthing new life. The part I admit, I enjoy most, the puppies and ensuring the best start in life that they can possibly have.
I have over 8 years experience behind me in consults and surgery and love having a variety of case loads on a daily basis.
I look forward to meeting your pets, from small rodents to big dogs and anything in between.

Puppy Whelping and General Health Services
Arguably the most challenging part about breeding a dog is the whelping element. Breeders often spend countless days and hours ensuring their puppies stay alive and healthy. However, we understand that the unexpected can happen, resulting in a quick drive to a veterinary clinic to save a dog’s life.
Thanks to our specialist knowledge, we understand the needs and requirements for the correct care of puppies and the whelping mother.
Saving lives is an essential step in animal care. We offer 100% free advice to our customers on any topic relating to canine fertility and veterinary care.
We have bred for a considerable amount of time and are partnered with many dog breeders across the country, such as Ivy Rose Puppies.
We offer whelping services and stud dog services to ensure every step of your breeding is successful.
If you have any questions about our veterinary care or canine reproduction services, please get in touch at your earliest convenience. We would be delighted to help.
What Is A Routine Health Check?
Routine health checks are an essential element of welfare care for any animal, whether a dog, cat, horse or even a bird.
They consist of a general examination of the animal, including skin checks and treatment, observation of movement, provisional treatment of antibiotics, checks for ear infections or eye infections (including cherry eye), and more.
A clinical examination of the animal will take place in a safe, secluded room. However, we allow all of our customers to observe each step of the process to ensure and uphold their rights to refusal.
Our routine checks and treatments are tailored to each animal and client. We ask questions that relate only to your pet and your lifestyle, helping to maintain a safe and welcoming presence no matter the issue.
Dog Vaccination Services
A vaccine acts as a powerful safeguard against any suspecting illnesses or viruses. For example, the recent COVID-19 vaccine for humans protects against coronavirus.
Receiving a pet vaccination is an effortless procedure. A harmless needle is given to the animal.
Throughout a general/routine health check, one of our veterinary nurses may ask about the history of your pet’s vaccinations.
This may include:
- Puppy Vaccinations
- Travel Vaccinations
- Herpes Vaccinations
- Canine Parvovirus Vaccination
- Rabies Vaccination
And any other relevant vaccinations.
Dog Cherry Eye Surgery Cost
The cost of cherry eye treatment for dogs can be around £400-£1500.
Cherry eye affects a lot of dogs. Therefore it is a common issue. Ideally, this means treatment should be cheaper than other types of therapy for other problems in dogs.
Canine Scanning believes in healthy dogs. Our costs remain lower than other veterinary surgeries to ensure dog treatment is approachable, affordable, and available for anyone, regardless of your income.

Cherry Eye Surgeries and Removal
Unfortunately, a common problem faced by many brachycephalic breeds today is cherry eye.
Cherry eye is most common in French Bulldogs and English bulldogs. Appearing as a bulging red lump at the corner of a dogs eye, its cause is due to a protrusion or prolapse of the third eyelid gland found in a dog’s eye.
The third eye gland is responsible for tear ducts to keep the eye surface moist and textured. If a prolapse of this eyelid occurs, your dog’s eyeball will likely dry out, leading to complications such as conjunctivitis.
If not treated soon enough, further treatment may be necessary, including removing the entire eyeball.
Due to the transient nature of cherry eyes, it is vital to keep an eye out for signs of cherry eyes in dogs.
Please remember that cherry eye may affect just one eye or both.
What Dog Breeds Get Cherry Eye?
Unfortunately, cherry eye is a condition that affects all breeds of dogs.
However, the most commonly affected breeds are:
- French Bulldogs
- English Bulldogs
- Shih Tzus
- Cocker Spaniels
- Great Danes
- Cross-Breeds
- Chow Chows
Fortunately, cherry eye does not usually cause much pain to a dog. However, the dog may face plenty of discomfort and may resort to alternate methods of lubricating the eye to minimise inflammation or irrationality.
Canine Scanning urges all owners of dogs with cherry eyes to visit our clinic as soon as possible to prevent any need for further treatment.
Microchipping
Since 2018, microchipping your pet has been a legal requirement. However, it is, fortunately, a much better alternative than completely losing a dog or cat.
If a lost dog is found and returned to a veterinary clinic or dog warden, it can be scanned using a microchip scanner. This produces a unique identification number with information about the owner, ultimately making it much easier to reunite lost dogs with their owners.
Furthermore, microchipping is a simple process and has plenty of benefits.
A small needle is given to the animal between the shoulder blades. The microchip is about the size of a grain of rice, and the actual service is relatively painless and swift.
The law states that canine microchipping must take place by eight weeks of age; however, cats can be microchipped from 5 weeks. This difference is most likely due to the different anatomies of dogs and cats, meaning it is safe to insert a microchip into a cat at a younger age than to insert it into a dog at a younger age.
