Sperm Testing – What’s the Point?

A male’s sperm is essential in reproduction. Many dog owners do not believe it is necessary to test their pet’s sperm however this is simply not the case. Due to the nature of the diet of modern dogs, the mobility and structure of sperm can vary, leading to infertile offspring. Here are some reasons why you should book a sperm test today.

Healthy, Fertile Offspring

If you are hoping to stud your male, then taking a sperm test is key to healthy, fertile offspring. It is no secret that purebred canines are selectively bred through the process of elimination and correction of sperm, all to achieve a specific type of dog. With ease, at Canine Scanning we can check the sperm of your male to ensure he is capable of producing valuable sperm, and also provide tips to increase the production of hale and hearty offspring. Sperm Count

Sperm tests can be completed using our special machine which can count the amount of sperm your dog is able to produce. Firstly, we must ensure that the majority, if not all, of your pets sperm is healthy and fertile, and then we will check the count of sperm produced. This will help us give a clear understanding of whether it will be enough for your male to be an active stud dog. All our males are actively sperm tested to ensure only top quality offspring are available.

Reflection of Health

Through the analysis of sperm, we are able to determine the health and well-being of your pet, allowing us the ability to offer help to increase and maximise comfort for your pet. Contrary to popular belief, a male’s sperm is a clear reflection of the food he is being fed, and the conditions they are being kept. Sometimes all it takes to alter the state of sperm is a simple change of diet, or even just another bed!
